Learned a Lot by Inter-acting with Others

I'm retiring from my full-time Writing Center Coordinator position in June 2024. I'll still be teaching at CCRI as a part-time faculty member. I've been in that full-time position for more than fourteen years. I've learned a lot by doing website content, reading papers, reading books, going to committee meetings, etc. I love interacting with every student, faculty, and staff member at CCRI. I love hearing about different cultures and different ways of learning. Paw Learning Mazes references such things as financial literacy, STEM, visual, aural, historic, and multi-modal.

Learned a Lot with My Degrees from URI

My first semester as a part-time college student was at the Community College of Rhode Island. Then, I transferred to the University of Rhode Island, where I earned a bachelor's degree in English. My master's degree was in creative writing (poetry) at the University of Rhode Island. My doctorate was also earned at the University of Rhode Island. I love the many different kinds of learning processes. The picture is from Paw Learning Mazes, page 1.

Learning at Work

I'm always learning something new at work. In 1985-87, I was working part-time at Brown University's Brown Design Group while getting my Master's degree in English (with a focus on Creative Writing, Poetry) at U.R.I. I learned a lot about design while working at Brown University. Now, I'm able to do my own design for bookmarks, website content, etc. I also sometimes have been teaching Technical Writing and Business Writing. My work at Brown University helped me to know a lot about artistic design, so I'm able to include some nice content for my students.

I'm so thankful to be the author of eight books. What happened with each book was I learned a focus for the next book, which made writing the next book easier. The dream/reality connections in Banking on Dreams, for example, were a part of all my other books. Writing about animals and people learning things in some of the poems for my first three books of poetry resulted in my choosing a focus for learning in Paw Learning Mazes. One example of a learning poem is the "Cat Grammar" poems and maze poems in Paw Dream Mazes.

I learned a lot while writing Paw Learning Mazes. I learned about egrets and pawpaw trees. The front cover of Paw Learning Mazes has a picture of an egret. Yes, I took this picture. The poem about egrets is "A STEM Dream about an Egret"; there's also a maze poem version of this poem in Paw Learning Mazes.
I also learned about pawpaw trees. Yes, these are real trees. They are small trees with fruit that tastes a little bit like bananas. The fruit is usually ripe in September and October. The poem that references pawpaw trees is "Spying on the Paws of Life"; there's also a maze poem version of this poem.
