I'm so thankful to be the author of eight books. What happened with each book was I learned a focus for the next book, which made writing the next book easier. The dream/reality connections in Banking on Dreams, for example, were a part of all my other books. Writing about animals and people learning things in some of the poems for my first three books of poetry resulted in my choosing a focus for learning in Paw Learning Mazes. One example of a learning poem is the "Cat Grammar" poems and maze poems in Paw Dream Mazes.
I learned a lot while writing Paw Learning Mazes. I learned about egrets and pawpaw trees. The front cover of Paw Learning Mazes has a picture of an egret. Yes, I took this picture. The poem about egrets is "A STEM Dream about an Egret"; there's also a maze poem version of this poem in Paw Learning Mazes. I also learned about pawpaw trees. Yes, these are real trees. They are small trees with fruit that tastes a little bit like bananas. The fruit is usually ripe in September and October. The poem that references pawpaw trees is "Spying on the Paws of Life"; there's also a maze poem version of this poem. |
